The Hi-Way Cafe is located in northeastern Oklahoma and sits on both historical Route 66 and the Jefferson Highway. We are Alan & Beth Hilburn and we have owned and operated the cafe for the past 13 years. High School sweethearts, we’ve been married for over 33 years and have three children ages 26, 17 & 4 yrs old.

The cafe is centered over a large gravel parking lot and seats a total of 94 customers inside and offers outdoor picnic tables along the back of the tree-lined property as well. The cafe is currently open Wed-Sun 7am-2pm and the first Saturday of every month 7am-8pm. In addition, the cafe is available for private parties as well.

Taste Our Best Food

During 2022, the Hi-Way Cafe was selected for two highly competitive national grants. The Backing Historic Small Restaurants Grant which is funded by both the National Trust and American Express. 25 restaurants across the U.S. were selected including the Hi-Way Cafe. This grant funding allowed us to incorporate an additional 30 seats, added large outdoor murals and security cameras and lighting. The second grant was a 50/50 cost share grant funded by the National Park Service and is part of the Route 66 Corridor Preservation Grant Program. This grant completely restored our 1963 neon sign back to its original glory.

Guinness World Record Holders

In November of 2022, in coordination with Mobil1, the Hi-Way Cafe set a Guinness World Record for the “Most Stickers on a Car”. Using a 1963 American Rambler and over 100 volunteers the cafe placed 60,066 half inch stickers over the body of the car and was declared a Guinness World Record Holder. This car is currently housed inside the cafe in the “garage” where customers can dine around the car.

The Hi-Way Cafe is also home to a “Giving Wall”. This is a program where people can donate prepaid meals for customers that cannot afford a meal. We have received recognition from both local and National news covering our efforts. As of January 2024, we have received donations from 13 states and have fed over 1100 people since it’s inception 3 years ago.
